Commercial vehicle blitz nets 55 charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the CKPS Traffic Unit conducted an enforcement blitz in partnership with OPP, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transportation.

As a result of this targeted Commercial Vehicle Operation:

– 42 vehicles were inspected

– 23 vehicles were taken out of service

– 5 sets of licence plates were seized

– 55 charges were laid ranging from vehicle maintenance to licensing, along with Highway Traffic Act violations including speeding and distracted driving.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds drivers that officers will continue these blitzes throughout the year across our community in an effort to keep our roadways safe.
