Chatham-Kent Police Service launches ‘Crime Prevention Week’
Join the CKPS as they celebrate ‘Crime Prevention Week’ which runs from November 4 to 10, 2018.
This week-long promotion of crime prevention is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, and all police services across Ontario.
“Crime prevention works. When police work with their communities to stop crime in its tracks, we all win,” stated Chief Gary Conn.
“We are proud that Ontario communities are among the safest in the world. But community safety and well-being takes hard work and collaboration. That’s why our service is proud to partner with local agencies, citizens and business to prevent crime here in Chatham-Kent.”
This week, the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be working hand in hand with the residents of Chatham-Kent to promote crime prevention strategies as our community’s safety is a shared responsibility.
Members of their Traffic Unit and Community Mobilization Team will be travelling across Chatham-Kent to conduct information spot checks where they will provide motorists with Distracted Driving safety tips as road safety continues to be a priority for the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
Citizens are also encouraged to share their own personal safety tips with police on social media using the hashtag #HelpUsHelpYou on Twitter @CKPSmedia or by sending the information as a message on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ckpolice/
The goal of this social media campaign is to engage residents to communicate different crime prevention strategies that could be adopted and used by neighbours, businesses or police.
For more information on Crime Prevention week, please see Ontario’s Mobilization & Engagement Model of Community Policing and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police’s 2018 Crime Prevention booklet.
