CP Holiday Train stops in Chatham-Kent

The CP Holiday Train came through Chatham-Kent on Friday afternoon, along with Sam Roberts Band and JoJo Mason.

Also in attendance was MPP Rick Nicholls, Don Shropshire, CAO of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, and of course, Santa Claus.

The Canadian Train departed on November 27 from Montreal, Quebec travelling west through Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia for it’s final show of the 2018 CP Holiday Train tour in Port Coquitlam on December 18, 2018.

“This is a fantastic community,” Nicholls said.

“I look out and I see hundreds this afternoon to be a part of this wonderful event.”

Shropshire also spoke to the crowd.

“Merry Christmas and a great big huge thanks to everybody here who came and donated to this event,” he said.

“We have got a phenomenal spirit in Chatham-Kent.”

During the short stop CP’s Coordinator of Customer Services, Rita Sassano presented a $5,000 Corporate donation to Brenda LeClair the Executive Director for Chatham Outreach For Hunger.

This is the 20th year that the the Holiday Train has been touring to raise money, food and awareness for local food banks across North America.

In that time they have raised more than $14.5 million and 4.3 million pounds of food for food banks throughout North America.

Everything that is raised in Chatham-Kent stays in Chatham-Kent in addition to the donation given by Canadian Pacific Railway non perishable items were donated for the local food bank.
