No injuries following two crashes involving deer

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Police continue to respond to motor vehicle collisions involving deer.

In the first collision yesterday morning, the driver swerved to miss a deer and lost control of his vehicle on River Line.

Luckily, the 17-year-old Dresden teen was not physically injured.

In a second collision early this morning, the driver struck a deer on Kent Bridge Road.

Luckily, the 79-year-old Blenheim woman was not physically injured.

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind drivers:

– Watch your Speed – sometimes collisions can be avoided if you have time to slow down

– Scan the Road – scanning ahead for animals may help you see them before they cross your path – watch for their reflective eyes and use your high beam headlights when possible

– Slow Down don’t Swerve – if an animal is on the road, brake gently to slow down – do not swerve or make sudden movements to avoid them as it is important that your reaction to avoid wildlife does not endanger yourself or other drivers on the road.
