Weapons call to downtown Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early on December 16 the Chatham-Kent Police responded to weapons call in the downtown center in the City of Chatham.

A local establishment reported a man had what appeared to be a black handgun in his rear waistband.

Police attended the area and located the man promptly.

The man was taken into investigative detention to determine the validity of the weapon complaint.

A BB-Gun Handgun was located on the man.

The man voluntarily submitted the BB-Gun to police for destruction; there were no criminal charges in this matter.

If you are transporting a toy that resembles a weapon be responsible.

They are easily confused with real weapons and can cause public concern and a priority police response.
