‘Little Free Pantry’ donation

Earlier this month, Kristan Blair’s Grade 8 class made a donation to the Little Free Pantry in Wallaceburg.

Here is what the pantry group had to say about the donation:

“We want to say thank you very much to the grade 8 class at WDSS for walking up to The Little Free Pantry on Friday and donating an abundance of food and personal items for the members of our community who are in need. Thank you very much to Kristan Blair.”

Christmas and New Year’s Municipal Holiday Hours

 

All Municipal offices and most services will be closed from noon Monday, December 24 through Wednesday, December 26. Offices will also be closed from noon Monday, December 31 through Tuesday, January 1.

Other services are scheduled as follows:

Cemetery Operations: Cemetery staff will be on call for funeral homes who require at-need sales.

CK Transit: All Transit services will NOT be operating on December 25, 26 and January 1.

Emergency Services: Police, Fire and Ambulance are operational 24 hours a day, every day, and are accessible by dialing “911” for emergency calls only. The fire office will be closed December 25, 26 and January 1.

Culture Services:Chatham-Kent Museum, Thames Art Gallery and ARTspace will be closed December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1. The Milner House will be closed December 24 through January 1. The Ridge House Museum will be closed for the season starting December 24.

Capitol Theatre:

December 27: Open evening hours for event (Movie Night)

December 28: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (plus evening hours for event) (Show Day)

December 29: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (plus evening hours for event)

Closed December 30 to January 1.

CK Tourism: Open December 24, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; closed December 25 & 26; open December 31, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; and closed January 1, 2019.

Entegrus and Public Utilities Commission: Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will be closed from Monday, December 24 to Wednesday, December 26, and Monday, December 31 to Tuesday, January 1. The office will be open Thursday, December 27 and Friday, December 28; and re-opening on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Health and Family Services Building:

The Health and Family Services building will be open from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on December 24, closed on December 25 and 26, opening for regular business hours on December 27 and December 28. The office will also be open from 8:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. on December 31, closed on January 1, reopening on January 2. This includes the offices of Employment and Social Services, Housing Services, Child Care and Early Years, and Public Health. The Employment Resource Centres located at 240 King St. W., Chatham and 786 Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg will be closed at noon on December 24, and closed on December 25 and 26, reopening December 27. The Employment Resource Centres will also be closed at noon on December 31, and closed on January 1, reopening January 2. The Chatham-Kent Homeless Response Line is available at 519-354-6628. Essential after-hours Public Health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.

Libraries: All public libraries will be closed December 24-26, December 30-31 and January 1.

Public Health Unit King Street: (located at 177 King St. E., Chatham) Open from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. December 24, closed on December 25 and 26, reopening for regular business hours on December 27 and December 28. The office will also be open 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on December 31, and closed on January 1, reopening on January 2, 2018.

Provincial Offences Court: The Provincial Offences Court will be closed at noon December 24 through December 26. The office will be closed to the public on December 27 & 28 but phones will be answered during this time. Payments may be made at a Municipal Service Centre or on-line at www.paytickets.ca. If your licence is suspended, please attend a Service Ontario Office for payment of the fine and reinstatement fee. Closed at noon December 31 through January 1, re-opening January 2, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.

Recreation Services:Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool will close at 1:30 p.m. on December 24 and 31. Parent & Tot Swim on December 22 and 29 (10 a.m. – 11 a.m.) have been cancelled. Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will close at 1:00 p.m. on December 24 and 31. Lane Swim on December 22 and 29 (9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.) has been cancelled.

Arenas:

December 24 – Blenheim arena is open for limited bookings. All other arenas are closed.

December 25 – All arenas are closed.

December 26 – Chatham Memorial and Thames Campus arenas are open. All other Chatham-Kent arenas are closed.

December 31 – Blenheim arena is open for limited bookings. Free skates will take place at Blenheim, Dresden, Ridgetown and Wallaceburg arenas. The Holiday Skate schedule is available at https://www.chatham-kent.ca/parks-recreation/arenas. All other arenas are closed.

January 1 – Tilbury arena is open for limited bookings. All other arenas are closed.

Riverview Gardens: Reception and administrative offices will be closed December 25, 26, and January 1, but services, activities and visiting hours continue as normal. Nursing staff can be reached 24/7 by calling 519-352-4823.

Waste and Recycling: Curbside garbage and recycling collection services will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week from December 25th, 2018 and January 1st, 2019 respectively. Please refer to the Recycling and Waste Collection Guide for further details.

Operating hours for Transfer Stations and Leaf & Yard Depots are as follows:

Chatham-Kent Tourism: CK Tourism will be closed at noon Monday, December 24 through Wednesday, December 26. Offices will also be closed from noon Monday, December 31 through Tuesday, January 1. To access visitor information at any time, please go to visitck.ca.

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance services altered over the Holiday Season

Some healthcare services offered at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be altered over the holiday season.

Routine X-rays, electrocardiograms (EKG), and ultrasounds will not be available on December 25 and 26, 2018 and January 1, 2019 and will reopen on January 2. These departments will be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.

Out-Patient Rehabilitation Services at the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will not be available from December 24 to 28, 2018, as well as January 1, 2019. This department will be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients.

The Diabetes Education Centre and the TIA and CAD clinics will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2018 and January 1, 2019.

Pulmonary Function Lab, Chatham and Wallaceburg sites, will be closed on December 25, 2018 through to and including January 1, 2019 and will reopen January 2, 2019.

The Chatham-Kent Out-Patient Mental Health and Addictions Program will be closed on December 24, 2018 through to and including January 1, 2019, and will reopen on January 2. For any immediate crisis, please call the crisis line at 1-866-299-7447 or visit your nearest Emergency Room.

Out-Patient Lab Services will be closed from Saturday, December 23, 2018 through to and including December 26, 2018. To accommodate patients, Out-Patient Lab Services will operate at regular hours on December 27 and 28, 2018. The Lab will close again on December 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019 and will reopen on January 2, 2019.

The Pre-Surgical Screening Department will be closed December 25, 2018 through to and including January 1, 2019 and will reopen on January 2, 2019.

The Patient Appointment Office will be closed December 25 and 26, 2018 and January 1, 2019.

Release of Information will be closed from December 24 to 28, 2018.

Health Records will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2018, as well as January 1, 2019.

Elston Pharmacy, located at the Chatham Site, will be closed at 2:00 p.m. starting on Monday, December 24, 2018 and will reopen Thursday, December 27 to Friday, December 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Monday, December 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Pharmacy will be closed January 1, 2019 and back to regular business hours on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Ambulatory Care Department Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be closed December 25 and 26, 2018 and closed again on December 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019.

The Oncology Department will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2018 and January 1, 2019.

The Business Office and Cashier’s Office will be closed on December 24th, 2018 through to and including December 26, 2018. The Cashier’s Office and Business office will be available on December 27 through to December 28. These offices will also be closed on January 1, 2019 and will reopen on January 2, 2019. Please note there are two bill changers in the building to accommodate change for coin.

Hemodialysis Care will be closed on December 25, 2018 and January 1, 2019 and will be open on Sunday, December 23, 2018 and Sunday, December 30, 2018 to accommodate patient needs. The department will resume normal hours on January 2, 2019.

The Emergency Departments at the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites are open 24 hours daily.
