Kay Murphy

Murphy; Cathleen Elisabeth. On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, Kay’s long battle with Alzheimer’s ended peacefully as she left us with broken hearts. Beloved wife of Ken for 62 years.

Loving mother of Keeley (Brett) McMullin, mother in law to Lori, and grandmother to Dylan (Brandi Thompson) and Trevor. Predeceased by her son Brad (2018) and parents Bob and Verna Bending of Wallaceburg. Kay will also be missed by sister in law Elda (late Melvin) Murphy.

Her interests included travelling the world with husband Ken, theatre, great music and dancing. While not a curler herself, she was an avid rink-side cheerleader for her family and spent many hours watching games at the Sydenham Curling Club. She was also a soccer grandma years ago, cheering on her grandsons. She was an animal lover and was rarely seen without a cat close by. She saw the beauty in nature, especially the fall leaves and the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean… sunset drives along the St. Clair River were a favourite evening activity.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at Riverview Gardens in Chatham for the compassionate care provided for the past three years. And a special thank you also to Kay’s devoted caregiver, Krystina Kokhna, for making it possible for Kay to remain in her home much longer than anticipated.

At Kay’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. If desired, remembrances may be made to the Sarnia & District Humane Society or to a charity of your choice. HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg entrusted with arrangements. 519.627.3231. Online tributes may be left at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca
