CKPL to host 2019 Book Bash Canadian Children’s Literature Festival

The Chatham-Kent Public Library will host the 2019 Book Bash Canadian Children’s Literature Festival on Wednesday, October 23.

The Book Bash will bring literacy to the forefront in our community and demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s rich heritage and culture.

Book Bash Canadian Children’s Literature Festival is a fun-filled, free children’s festival featuring a variety of activities and programs with Canadian children’s authors, illustrators and entertainers.

CKPL’s festival will highlight First Nations and French-language literature and culture.

Funding for the Festival is made possible through the Muller Scholastic Endowment Fund for Canadian Children’s Literature at the Toronto Public Library Foundation.

The Fund was established by Larry Muller, retired president of Scholastic Canada, to create an annual children’s literature festival promoting reading and recognizing the value of Canadian children’s literature to Canadian families.

Book Bash is a community festival and many Chatham-Kent organizations are partnering with CKPL to make the event a success. Many thanks to our partners, Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, St. Clair Catholic School Board, Lambton-Kent District School Board, Bkejwanong First Nation Public Library, and EarlyON for their commitment to the festival.

Human Trafficking Town Hall tonight

Did you know that 14 is the average age of a victim of human trafficking?

Did you know that Highway 401 is a major corridor for human trafficking?

Join the Chatham-Kent Police Service tonight, Thursday, January 17 at 6 p.m. at the John D Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham to learn more about Human Trafficking, specifically how to recognize the signs and where to get help.

Students, parents and teachers are all encouraged to attend.
