Local resident Michael Galloway provided his 100th donation of blood on Thursday, January 17, at a clinic held at the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg.
Galloway told the Sydenham Current he estimates he provided his first donation back in 1993.
“It was after I lost my fingers… that’s why I remember,” he said.
His family encouraged him to start making donations, he added.
“My wife convinced me to,” he said, adding that donating blood is a seamless process.
“Nothing to it.”
Galloway said the hardest part is holding the cotton in his arm for a minute when he has an itch on his face.
The next clinic being held in Wallaceburg is on Thursday, March 21.
Canadian Blood Services is holding a clinic at Dresden’s arena on Monday, February 4.
