Police investigating attempted robbery in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around noon today, a man on Wellington Street West was approached by a stranger who demanded money from him.

When the man refused, he was assaulted.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’9” – 5’11” wearing a dark blue winter coat with grey or brown fur around the hood, blue sweater, blue winter toque and black shoes.

He fled the area on foot and was last seen running southbound on Raleigh Street.

The victim, a 53-year-old Chatham man, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with minor injuries.
