Wallaceburg Library hosting ‘Community Wellness Day’

The Chatham-Kent Public Library, Wallaceburg Branch, is inviting the public to a ‘Community Wellness Day’ to boost your sense of wellbeing and of community over the cold winter months.

The event will occur today, Thursday, January 24 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The event will include a free one hour yoga session for people of all ages and all abilities with Wallaceburg’s very own Cathy Cogghe from the Wallaceburg Wellness Centre from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dogs will then come by to say hello from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

An arts and crafts table will be available nearby for those that are feeling creative as well.

Stop by Wallaceburg Branch, 209 James Street, and join them for an afternoon of connection, creativity, gentle exercise and fun.

Final budget open house

The final community open house session about the 2019 Chatham-Kent budget will be held tonight:

Thursday, January 24, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Active Lifestyle Centre, 20 Merritt Avenue, Chatham

Chatham-Kent staff presented the draft budget document to Chatham-Kent Council on Wednesday evening, January 16.

Faced with some uncertainties, especially in regards to pending provincial funding through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund, administration presented a budget with a tax increase ranging from 1.7% to 2.03%.

The draft budget includes a 1% increase in annual infrastructure funding, including an additional $550,000 for bridges.
