Cold weather warning from Pet and Wildlife Rescue

Pet and Wildlife Rescue wants to make sure the animals in our community are warm and safe this week as extreme cold weather conditions are expected.

A post on PAW Facebook page said the following:

“The forecast for Wednesday is calling for temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius and feel like -33 with the windchill.

Chatham-Kent’s Responsible Animal Ownership By-law states, no person shall allow an animal to remain outdoors during extreme weather, except for brief walks or brief periods of exercise, unless the animal has access to an animal enclosure that will adequately protect the animal from the elements.

Please keep your animals inside during these cold temperatures. If you have any concerns please contact Animal Control at 226-996-9969”
