The Blenheim Blades evened up their opening round playoff series against the Dresden Kings on Thursday night, February 7.

Blades captain Dede Cato was the hero, scoring the game winner at the 4:55 mark of the extra frame, giving Blenheim the 3-2 win.

The Blades had to come back twice in the game, having fallen behind 1-0 and 2-1 throughout the contest.

Conner Wright and Steven Funk also scored for Blenheim.

Dresden got two goals from Dawson Winchester.

The Blades narrowly out-shot Dresden 36-35.

Chris Dewulf stopped 33 shots for Blenheim in the win, while Dresden’s Brett Brochu made 33 saves in the loss.

Game #3 goes tonight, Friday, February 8, in Dresden at 7:30 p.m.

The series is ties at one game apiece.
