Dresden thumps Blenheim in Game #3 win

The Dresden Kings took care of home ice on Friday night, pounding the Blenheim Blades 9-1 in Game #3 of their best-of-seven opening round playoff series.

The Kings dominated the game throughout, gathering a 5-0 lead after the first period, a 7-0 after two and a 9-0 lead in the third, before Blenheim scored late in the final frame to crack the shut-out.

Brendan Ritchie scored twice for the Kings, while Geoffry VandenBoorn, Greg Hay, TJ Saunby, Dawson Winchester, Derek Shaw, Lucas Spence and Eric Carter also scored for Dresden, who now hold a 2-1 series lead.

Brett Brochu made 21 saves to earn the win in net.

The Kings out-shot the Blades 33-22.

Game #4 will take place on Sunday, February 10 in Blenheim at 7 p.m.

Game #5 will take place on Monday, February 11 in Dresden at 8 p.m.

If necessary, Game #6 will be held on Thursday, February 14 in Blenheim at 7 p.m. and Game #7 will take place Friday, February 15 in Dresden at 7:30 p.m.
