Trio charged following police pursuit

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed a driver fail to signal their turn on Anger Street in Blenheim.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, however the driver fled the town of Blenheim at a high rate of speed while also disobeying stop signs. The officer discontinued the pursuit for public safety concerns.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed speeding on Pinehurst Line by another officer.

The driver stopped on English Line and fled on foot.

The driver tried to escape across McGregor Creek but was arrested.

His two passengers were also taken into custody in the area.

A search of the vehicle resulted in a glass meth pipe being found and seized.

The driver, a 33-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with his release conditions, drug possession and driving while under suspension.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The 26-year-old female passenger from Chatham was charged with drug possession and being in possession of a prohibited weapon.

She was released pending a future court date of March 7, 2019.

The 23-year-old male passenger from Blenheim was charged with drug possession and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of March 7, 2019.
