A group of women from Wallaceburg and the surrounding area participated in the Women’s Parkhill Tournament on the weekend, from February 9 to 10.

The squad captured gold at the tournament, going 1-0-2 in round robin play before winning the championship game in a shootout.

The gold medal game ended in a 3-3 tie before going into a 5-minute, 3-on-3 overtime period.

The extra frame solved nothing.

Sydney Handsor was the eventual hero, scoring the winning goal in the shootout.

Karlie Handsor scored 7 goals during the tournament, plus one in the shootout.

Liz Vanderveeken scored twice, while Danna Bishop, Kate Smalls and Kerrie Vandevelde also scored in the tournament.
