Melvin Mills of Wallaceburg


Mr. Melvin Mills, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, in Chatham, at the age of 91.

Melvin was born in Sombra Township and was a son of the late Harrison and Florence (Lamarsh) Mills.

Beloved husband of Hattie (Branton) Mills.

Loving father of Dennis (Sandra) Mills, Judy (Denis) Morin, Janice Reid and Joanne Mills.

Sadly missed by his grandchildren Chelsea, Mackenzie, Derek, Adam, Madison, Evan and Adrian.

Kind brother of John (Evelyn) Mills.

Predeceased by his brothers Sid and Kennie. 

Melvin was always ready to offer a hand up to anyone who needed it. Over his years, he worked on the freighters travelling the Great Lakes. He was a milk man. He was a tinsmith. He was the owner of Mills’ Heating and Cooling.   When he retired he learned the art of upholstery and frequented Country Style for coffee and donuts.  He will be missed by many. 

A private family interment service was held in Duthill Cemetery. 

A Celebration of Life honoring the memory of Melvin Mills will be held on Saturday March 30, 2019  from 2-4 p.m. with a service at 2:30 p.m. from Trinity United Church, 750 Wellington Street, in Wallaceburg.  A Reception will follow. 

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home.
