Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last week, members of the Traffic Unit conducted a blitz throughout the Municipality to ensure roadway safety by targeting the ‘Big Four’ – aggressive driving, seat belts, cell phones, and impairment.

In total, 82 provincial offence notices were issued.

– 50 for speeding

– 16 for seat belt

– 13 for various Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges

– 3 for driving while using a hand-held communication device

“We would like to remind motorists that traffic enforcement will continue throughout the year across our community as road safety is one of our three pillars of commitment to the citizens of Chatham-Kent,” police officials stated in a media release.
