Chatham-Kent Council: March 4 meeting recap (Video)

Chatham-Kent Council met for a regular/planning meeting on Monday night, March 4, 2019.

Here are the items Council dealt with at their meeting:

– Council heard a presentation by Kristen Williams, Manager Tenant Relations and Chatham-Kent EMS about a new pilot project for Paramedic Led Wellness Clinics in partnership with Chatham-Kent Housing Services. For more details, click here.

– Council approved a report on an Urban Indigenous EarlyON Child and Family Care program.

– Council approved an Offer to Purchase application for an Alley between First Street and Forhan Street in Wallaceburg.

– Council appointed North Kent Councillor Jamie McGrail as our SWIFT Board Member representative.

– A motion by Chatham Councillor Karen Kirkwood-Whyte was approved and staff will investigate changing 519-360-1998 to 311 and they will undertake an analysis for the past three years of the number and types of non-emergency calls going to 911.

– Reports were approved about Orville Wright Pool Tree Pruning, Closure of CN Railway Crossing – Zone Road 10, a Boundary Road Agreement with the Township of Dawn-Euphemia, Surplus Property Declaration and an OMERS By-law for Mayor Participation.

– Approved an Offer to Purchase – Property Identification Number 00936 0140, Part of Road Allowance Concessions 3 and 4, Harwich; Chatham-Kent.

– Council received an information report on the Naming of the New Animal Shelter, which will be called the “Chatham-Kent Animal Shelter”.

– We deferred an information report on Community Partnership Fund (CPF) Citizen Review Committee to March 25.

– A routine approval for Budget Methodology was approved.

– Council also met in closed session to discuss the following: former Mayor Compensation, proposed disposition of land in Merlin and Chatham, CK Plan 2035 Advisory Committee appointments, the process for changing development charges with the Public Utilities Commission, Wastewater Systems Effluent and Integrity Commissioner Investigations.

– Notices of Motion were made by Councillors Melissa Harrigan (LIVE streaming of Budget Deliberations & Wheatley Community Fund), Anthony Ceccacci (Arena Business Plan), Carmen McGregor (Developmental Charges By-law) and Brock McGregor (Asset Management Plan & Budget). These motions will all be discussed March 25.
