Is God preoccupied?

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

The story is told of children lined up in the cafeteria of a religious school for lunch.

At the head of the table was a large bowl of apples with a note from the teacher, “Take only one, God is watching.”

Further down, at the other end of the table, was a plate of chocolate chip cookies.

A boy wrote a note: “Take all you want. God is watching the apples.”

We may get a chuckle from this little story but let me ask you something: do you think God is preoccupied?

In other words, is God too busy with other stuff to notice you and your life?

This can affect us in a number of different ways.

If you are battling cancer, does the Lord hear your cry for mercy?

When your husband works late and the children are acting up, does He notice that you are at your wits end?

When the boss isn’t looking does Jesus see you being dishonest with your use of time at work?

The answer to all of these is YES!

God is not preoccupied.

The God who created the heavens and the earth is the same God who cares about the littlest details of our lives, as well.

David said this in Psalm 139:1-3: “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.”

So remember, whether good or bad, God watches the apples AND the chocolate chip cookies.

Nothing escapes His notice, not even you!
