Firefighters from Stations #1 and #2 responded to a structure fire at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday at 30 Patteson Ave. in Chatham.
“On-duty Chatham-Kent Police Service police officers observed smoke coming from the house and notified the family,” Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services officials said in a press release.
“Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and eliminated the risk to exposures. The home did not have any smoke alarms. CK EMS transferred a father and son to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
Damage is pegged at $50,000, while a total of $120,000 in property was saved.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management are attending the scene to investigate the cause of the fire, fire officials say.
