Man arrested from ‘Wanted List’

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 18, 2018 a man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to possession any unlawful drugs or substances.

Yesterday morning, police located the man who was wanted for breaching conditions of his Probation Order.

Following a short foot chase, the man was taken into custody.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The 38-year-old Chatham man was additionally charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and drug possession.

He was released and turned over to Stratford Police where he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an observant citizen called police regarding suspicious activity near a garage on North River Line.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was trying to steal barrels from the property.

A 63-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of April 30, 2019.

Woman arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a woman wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions by not residing at a specific address in Chatham or notifying police of her change in address.

The 37-year-old Chatham woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday, police received information regarding incidents of domestic violence that occurred between the man and his girlfriend over the course of their relationship.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested. The 22-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, members of Community Patrol conducted speed enforcement in Charing Cross.

In just an hour and a half, five motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

The officers also patrolled Middle Line, however no infractions were observed.

Man charged with careless driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a collision on Gray Street in Chatham.

A 28-year-old Jamaican man struck a parked vehicle causing about $10,000 damage.

He was charged with careless driving.

No one was injured.
