Police: Impaired driving, warrants executed

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police received information that a man was driving erratically in the Dresden area.

A query of the license plate revealed that the man lived just outside of Dresden.

An officer in the area located the vehicle parked in the man’s driveway.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the man exited the driver’s side door.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

He was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 55-year-old Dresden man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and using plates not authorized for the vehicle.

He was released pending a future court date of May 8, 2019.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around noon yesterday, police arrested a man wanted for assault and failing to attend court. A 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to the courthouse where he was released pending a future court date of May 3, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man wanted on a surety relief warrant. The 28-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to a local correctional facility.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police arrested a woman wanted for failing to attend the courthouse back in February for fingerprint purposes. A 25-year-old Chatham woman was released pending a future court date of May 7, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 30, police responded to a disturbance between two women known to each other at an establishment in Wallaceburg. Early this morning, a 21-year-old Wallaceburg woman wanted in connection with this incident attended police headquarters and turned herself in. She has been charged with assault and released pending a future court of date of May 7, 2019.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to an abandoned vehicle in a field on Eighth Line near Merlin Road.

Damage has been estimated at $50,000.

The collision remains under investigation.

Theft from car wash in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. unknown suspects damaged four money boxes at the Car and Dog Wash on Grand Avenue East.

Approximately $80 in coins were stolen from the damaged money boxes.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Wednesday at 10 p.m. and Thursday at 8 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into Godfather’s Pizza on St. Clair Street causing about $300 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole a Dell laptop valued at $600.
