Martha Modde of Dresden

Mrs. Martha Modde, of Dresden, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, surrounded by her family, at Park Street Retirement Home, in Dresden at the age of 95.

Martha was born in Detroit, Michigan and was a daughter of the late Albert and Evelyn (Hunnick) Hoste.

Beloved wife of the late William Peter Modde (1969).

Loving companion of the late Tony Duynhoven for many years.

Loving mother of Barb (Ron) Vandroffelaar and Albert (Carol) Modde.

Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jen (Shawn) Tremblay and Judy Wolfe and her great grandchildren Brayden and Dylan Tremblay

Predeceased by her twin brother Ernie Hoste and sister Margaret Platjouw.

Family was everything to Martha. She loved with all of her might and everyone who met her loved her too. Martha was always proud of her family and showed them that through her presence, kind words, warm hugs and “I love yours!”

Martha had a fierce love for sports, especially watching her great grandsons playing hockey or baseball. She also loved the Toronto Blue Jays and the Calgary Flames; most notably TJ Brodie.

The family would like to thank the staff at Park St. Place for loving Martha so much. Thank you also to Nicole, Kelly and Will for your compassion, empathy and professionalism.

Martha loved life to the fullest until her last minutes and she left us with these words: “Don’t cry; laugh and love each other.”

Following her wishes, cremation will take place.

Interment of ashes will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society may be left at the funeral home.
