Update: Motor Vehicle Collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: As previous released, on Thursday morning, shortly after 7 a.m., police responded to an abandoned vehicle in a field on Eighth Line near Merlin Road.

The driver subsequently reported that the 2017 Porsche Cheyanne had been stolen.

Through investigation, police learned that the driver had been deceitful.

A 20-year-old Chatham man was arrested on Friday and charged with public mischief, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He was released pending a future court date of May 7, 2019.

Woman charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

A 19-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assaulting her boyfriend.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 6 p.m. last night, police responded to a disturbance at a business in Chatham.

A female employee confronted a man regarding an on-going theft investigation.

The man assaulted the woman and left the store.

He was located a short distance away and taken into custody.

The 44-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, a verbal argument between the man and woman escalated into a physical altercation.

Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

The 50-year-old Chatham man has been charged with mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats and three counts of assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Pair charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 3 a.m. this morning, officers located a man inside an apartment in Chatham wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The 36-year-old man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Through investigation, police learned that a woman in the apartment was on conditions not to communicate with the man.

The 26-year-old woman was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

She has been charged with failing to comply with her release conditions and drug possession.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with assault and uttering threats

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police received a 911 call from a woman running away from her boyfriend.

Officers located the woman on Grand Avenue and through investigation learned that she had been assaulted and that the man had stolen her phone after she called police.

Early this morning, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 29-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5,000, two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
