Theft of tools in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. unknown suspects entered a garage on Grand Avenue and stole various tools valued at $800.

Theft of ATV in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the past three days, unknown suspects stole a green 1995 Suzuki King Quad from a residence on Dufferin Avenue.

Value of the theft has been estimated at $1,000.

Woman charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 6 p.m. last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Charm Jewelry on King Street in Chatham.

The woman was arrested for stealing two diamond rings valued at $1,800 each.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the rings were recovered.

The woman was further arrested on outstanding warrants in connection with two other shoplifting complaints at Sport Chek and the LCBO.

A 30-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of May 21, 2019.

Suspicious activity leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On November 30, 2018 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to attend any retail establishment unless accompanied by an adult without a criminal record.

Around 8:20 p.m. last night, a concerned citizen called police to report that two men were looking in to parked cars on Coverdale Street in Chatham.

A description of the men were provided to police.

Police located the pair on McNaughton Avenue East.

The first man was inside a variety store alone which was a direct violation of his release conditions.

The second man was standing outside the variety store.

As the officer placed the first man under arrest, he fled on foot.

The man was taken into custody following a short foot chase and struggle.

The 21-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply and resisting arrest.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The second man was also arrested as he tried to stop the officer from arresting the first man.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was charged with obstruct police.

He was released pending a future court date of May 21, 2019.

Woman charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, just before 11 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Jane Street in Thamesville.

Through investigation, police believed the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested.

She was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 57-year-old Thamesville woman has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

She was released pending a future court date of May 21, 2019.
