Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a theft complaint at QPS Mechanical Contractors on Hart Place in Chatham.

Sometime overnight, unknown suspects damaged a garbage dumpster and removed scrap metal from inside the bin.

A lock was also cut off a trailer and scrap steel was stolen.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible and he was arrested.

A 30-year-old Chatham man has been charged with mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of May 24, 2019.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man wanted for domestic related criminal harassment.

The 42-year-old Chatham man was released pending a future court date of May 21, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, Windsor Police located a woman wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident and failing to attend court in Chatham.

The 37-year-old Windsor woman was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a man wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was released pending a future court date of May 22, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police located a man in Chatham wanted by London Police.

The 48-year-old Chatham man will be transported back to London this morning for court purposes.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 9, 2018 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with two specific women.

Yesterday morning, the man made contact with the women by phone.

Police were notified and the man was arrested.

The 58-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stunt driving charge laid

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Wednesday afternoon, a member of the Traffic Unit observed a driver travelling at a high rate of speed on Bear Line Road.

The officer recorded the person driving 147 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The 17-year-old Dover Township resident was charged with Stunt Driving.

Her driver’s license has been suspended for seven days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Theft of rifle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime early yesterday morning, unknown suspects smashed the window of a vehicle parked on Paisley Court and stole a .22 cal camo Ruger in its case.

Theft of lawnmower in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Wednesday at 6 p.m. and yesterday at 2 p.m. unknown suspects entered an unlocked shed on King Street West and stole a green Honda lawnmower along with a red 3 gallon jerry can.
