Man charged with resist arrest
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, shortly after 8 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed two suspicious men riding bicycles with their faces covered and carrying a heavy backpack in the area of Bridlepath Road and Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.
As the officer tried to stop the men, they fled at a high rate of speed.
The officer was able to stop the second man at the corner of Queen Street and Murray Street.
As the officer placed the man under arrest for failing to stop, he resisted and threw a small baggie into a nearby bush.
The man was taken into custody and the baggie containing crystal methamphetamine was recovered by the officer.
The 53-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with drug possession, resisting arrest and failing to comply with his release conditions by being in possession of unlawful drugs.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man arrested on parole warrant
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police located a man in Chatham wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for violating his Parole.
The 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported back to a local correctional facility.
Woman charged with assault
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Wallaceburg.
The 35-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with assault.
She was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 31, 2019.
Man charged with uttering threats
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police were called to a neighbour dispute in Dresden.
Through investigation, police learned that the man threatened his neighbour.
The 30-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with uttering threats.
He was released pending a future court date of June 12, 2019.
Man charged with breaching his curfew
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 10, 2018 a man was released from Court with several conditions.
One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m. last night, police responded to a disturbance on Lacroix Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, the 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Suspicious men leads to charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, just before 2 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed two men riding bicycles with no lights on Oxley Drive in Chatham.
The officer stopped the men and through investigation, learned that the first man was wanted by OPP.
The man was arrested on the outstanding warrant and upon being searched was found to be in possession of a black ski mask, knife and flashlight.
In his backpack, the officer found night vision binoculars, balaclava, various tools, gloves and syringe containing methamphetamine.
The 33-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with being in possession of break in tools and drug possession.
He was released pending a future court date of June 26, 2019 and turned over to OPP for court purposes.
The second man was also arrested for breaching his curfew.
The 36-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with failing to comply.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Theft of tools in Chatham
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Wednesday at 11 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a storage bin on Colborne Street and stole a Bosch Hammer drill set, Stihl gas powered chop saw and 16” Stihl chainsaw.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $2,400.

Canadian Road Safety Week
Last week, police services across Canada joined forces in an effort to promote road safety by focusing on dangerous driving behaviours.
Here in Chatham-Kent, officers were out in full force resulting in:
– 6 seatbelt infractions
– 7 impaired related driving charges
– 55 other Highway Traffic Act offences
– 133 speeding and / or stunt driving charges
The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind all motorists that even though this National campaign is officially over, we will continue with local initiatives to ensure all road users are safe in our community.
