Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Dresden.

A man attended his ex-girlfriend’s home which resulted in a verbal argument.

The man let some air out of the woman’s tires, took her phone and assaulted her when she tried to get it back.

The man then threw the phone on the ground breaking it.

The 31-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with assault and mischief.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with breaching his curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 24, 2019 the man was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Just after midnight, an officer on general patrol observed the man riding a bicycle on St. Clair Street.

The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last week, a man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday morning, police arrested the man on the outstanding warrant.
A 44-year-old Chatham man was released pending a future court date of May 29, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police located a man wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order when he was a youth.

The 20-year-old Tilbury man was arrested on the outstanding warrant and released pending a future court date of June 3, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police located a man in Chatham wanted by OPP.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and turned over to OPP for court purposes.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 11:45 p.m. last night, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Park Street in Chatham.

The driver, lost control of his truck, struck a parked car and came to rest against One Stop Laundry.

Luckily, no one was injured.

Total damage has been estimated at $70,000.

The 40-year-old Chatham man has been charged with careless driving.

Collision in Morpeth involving a school bus

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This morning, around 8:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving a school bus and transport truck at the intersection of Tylee Street and Talbot Trail.

Eight children were on the bus at the time of the collision.

Thankfully, only minor injuries were reported.

The collision remains under investigation.
