Don’t quit

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Life can be so hard sometimes and it is at those times that we are most tempted to quit.

Claude Bristol once said, “It’s the constant and determined effort that breaks down all resistance, sweeps away all obstacles.”

I know a man who, several years ago was out of work and needing a job to support his large and growing family.

The former factory where he had worked closed and he was left with meager options.

He approached one of the automobile plants in Windsor with his resume, but was quickly turned down.

“I’m sorry, but we are not hiring at this time.”

He explained that he needed a job and would return in a few days.

The personnel manager assured him that the matter was closed.

Each time my friend replied, “I have a family to support and bills to pay. I need this job. I’ll be back.”

He even promised to work for free as a trial to prove that he was a hard worker.

That was over 27 years ago.

He still works at the same plant, but now in an advisory role that has better pay and benefits.

His family has never lacked.

The apostle Paul put it this way in Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Sometimes, when we think we are at the end of our rope, it is at that point that our breakthrough finally comes.

Hang in there, friend!

You just might be closer to your goal than you imagined!
