The first Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market of the 2019 season was held on Saturday, June 1 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

There was a variety of vendors selling local items, such as: fresh produce, plants, baked goods, popcorn, as well as other handmade wares.

A total of 16 local businesses, farmers and producers participated in the event.

“Williamson Market has been a family business for many years,” Chris Williamson, one of the vendors, told the Sydenham Current.

“We did direct marketing, right on the farm, but started doing farmers markets about 14 years ago. We were approached because of other people that I know, who are from this community, who asked us to come from the north end of the county because they thought that our services would be welcome down here.”

Williamson added: “This is our 3rd year at the market and we really enjoy coming down here. We’ll be at all of the markets this season.”

The Wallaceburg BIA will be hosting four additional markets this year and they are scheduled for July 13, July 27, August 17 and September 2.
