Police: MVC involving school bus, impaired, B&E

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 4:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling on Wheatley Road at a high rate of speed and swerving in his own lane.

The officer recorded the man driving 121 km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

As the officer turned around, the man passed another vehicle almost striking it.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 54-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and driving while disqualified.

He was released pending a future court date of July 5, 2019.

Woman charged with failing to sign in

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 4, 2019 a woman was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that she was to report to police headquarters every Thursday between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Last week, the woman failed to sign in.

Yesterday afternoon, when the woman attended police headquarters to sign in, she was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

The 25-year-old Chatham woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with breaching his curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 14, 2019 a man was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

On May 27, 2019 police received information that the man was not abiding by his curfew condition and attempts were made to locate him.

Yesterday afternoon, the man attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 22, 2019 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to participate in the John Howard Society Bail Supervision Program.

On May 29, 2019 the man failed to attend his appointment.

Yesterday morning, police located the man in Wallaceburg and he was arrested.

The 26-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with failing to comply.

He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police located a man on Park Avenue wanted for assault, mischief, failing to comply with his release conditions and failing to attend court.

The 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, Middlesex OPP located a man wanted for mischief and failing to attend court in Chatham.

The 27-year-old Woodstock man was arrested and transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

MVC in Zone Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a collision involving a pick-up truck and school bus on Longwoods Road between West Bothwell Road and Zone Road 9.

One student was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.

Total damage was estimated at $45,000.

B&E in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unknown suspects entered a residence on Lansdowne Avenue and stole jewelry, medication and cash.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer with the Traffic Unit conducted enforcement on Indian Creek Road West in Chatham.

Two motorists were charged with speeding.

Police would like to remind drivers to please obey the posted speed limits especially when entering a school zone.
