The Chatham-Kent Block Parent Program Inc., as part of its closing, will be giving the Chatham-Kent community one final act of safety wellness.

Block Parent officials say for 41 years the Chatham-Kent Block Parent Program and its group of ‘Safe Strangers’ have been giving children and recently seniors, safe places to turn to in times of need.

The program has held countless Bike Rodeos, lectures on senior safety, school programs, Halloween safety, and attended local events with its safety booth.

“With all of these events and the community in mind, the Board of Chatham-Kent Block Parent Program has decided that the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) will be the beneficiary of its legacy grant,” Block Parent officials said in a media release.

On June 27, at the program’s final annual general meeting, the LTVCA will
be receiving a cheque for $1,500 for their Sun Safety Tree Planting Project.

The final AGM will be held at Rossini’s Restaurant with a meet and greet at 4:30 p.m. and formal meeting at 5 p.m.
