Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 1 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle leaving an establishment on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

A short distance away, the vehicle was seen swerving on the roadway.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside test was administered and the man failed.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 40-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of July 9, 2019.

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Man breaches release conditions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 15, 2019 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to be within 50 meters of a specific woman.

Shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday, the man attended the woman’s place of employment.

Police were notified and officers located the man a short distance away.

The 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic stop leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night around 7:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed a blue GMC Jimmy travelling on Forhan Street in Wallaceburg.

The officer queried the license plate and learned that the plates were registered to a yellow GMC Canyon.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue and through investigation further learned that the man was suspended from driving.

The 31-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with driving while under suspension, using plates not authorized for the vehicle and failing to provide an insurance card.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on July 24, 2019.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Wallaceburg man charged with driving while under suspension

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 9:30 p.m. last night, an officer on general patrol observed a black Ford F-150 travelling on Jeanne Street.

A query of the license plates revealed that they were registered to a grey GMC Envoy.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on Agnes Street, however the man continued driving until he pulled into a driveway on Elgin Street.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was currently suspended as per the Family Responsibility Office and for unpaid fines.

The 39-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with using plates not authorized for the vehicle, failing to provide an insurance card and two counts of driving while under suspension.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on July 24, 2019.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime this past weekend, unknown suspects entered an unlocked storage compound on Grand Avenue and cut the lock off a storage unit.

Once inside, the suspects stole various items worth approximately $4,000.

Theft of jewelry in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the past month, unknown suspects entered a home on Pine Crest Road and stole a jewelry box.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $5,000.
