Due to recent complaints regarding dog excrement left and not properly disposed of in the downtown cores of the community, this release serves as a reminder of by-law 8.1 in the Chatham-Kent Responsible Pet Ownership By-Law.
Every owner of a dog shall remove forthwith and sanitarily dispose of excrement left by the dog anywhere in the municipality.
If an owner of a dog is found to be neglectful in cleaning up their dog’s excrement, a fine of $240 can be given.
