Man arrested from ‘Wanted List’

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a man from the ‘Wanted List’ on West Street in Chatham.

The man fled, but was taken into custody following a short foot chase.

The 41-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply with his Probation Order, uttering threats, disobeying a Court Order and assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early Wednesday morning, unknown suspects caused about $1,000 damage to construction equipment on Riverview Drive in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible and he was arrested last night.

A 36-year-old Chatham man has been charged with mischief under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of July 26, 2019.

Woman charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early yesterday morning, unknown suspects stole 12 rose bushes from Sarah’s Farm Market on Queen Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the woman responsible and she was arrested.

A 46-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of July 30, 2019.

Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 11:30 p.m. police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked along the train tracks on Dillon Road.

As the officer approached the van, he observed that the driver was in possession of 19 Percocet pills.

The man was arrested and the pills were seized.

A 57-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of July 25, 2019.

Man arrested on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Giant Tiger in Chatham and then for failing to attend for his fingerprints and court, attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 41-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged and released pending a future court date of July 17, 2019.

Commercial vehicle joint forces operation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Management Unit, in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ontario Provincial Police, conducted a joint forces operation yesterday focusing on commercial motor vehicle operation and safety in Chatham.

As a result of this blitz:

– 21 commercial motor vehicles were sent in for inspection

– 12 vehicles were taken out of service

– 37 charges were laid in relation to this enforcement initiative

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind owners and drivers of commercial motor vehicles that such initiatives will continue throughout our community in an effort to keep all road users safe.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, officers conducted traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road.

A total of 10 motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Cyclist charged following crash in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a collision involving a vehicle and cyclist on Keil Drive South.

The cyclist sustained minor injuries.

The cyclist, a 56-year-old Chatham woman, was charged with bicycle by-law offences.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Sunday at 2 p.m. and last night at 10:30 p.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Richmond Street.

Once inside, the suspects stole a 15.6” Dell Inspiron laptop.

The homeowner’s cat is now also missing.

The orange cat is approximately 8 years old, weighs about 5 lbs and answers to the name ‘Butters’
