Motor vehicle collision in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday, July 5, 2019 at approximately 3:07 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Park Ave. and Lacroix St. in Chatham.

One of the drivers of a vehicle involved was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The collision caused a large amount of fuel to be leaked onto the roadway and the intersection was closed for several hours to facilitate clean up.

A 23-year-old female was charged with failing to yield from driveway.

Warrant arrest in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 13, 2018, a male attended a Wallaceburg store and stole a number of items.

He was identified through surveillance video and later arrested on December 23, 2018.

At that time, he was given a court date of January 22, 2019.

The male did not show up for his court date and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Friday, July 5, 2019 the 33-year-old Southwold, Ontario man was located by O.P.P and arrested on the warrant.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date of July 24, 2019.

Intoxicated man arrested in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 9:04 p.m. last night, an intoxicated man attempted to start a fight with some individuals on Baxter Street in Chatham.

Police were called and the man was arrested.

The 24-year-old Chatham man was held at Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters until sober and was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

Argument leads to assault charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday, July 5, 2019 at approximately 11:45 p.m. two men were drinking at a King Street East residence and began to argue with one another.

The argument turned into a physical fight and one man struck the other one over the head with a whiskey bottle.

The man fell to the ground and was then repeatedly kicked in the head by the other male.

The assailant fled the area and the victim was transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical care.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault.

The suspect was later located and arrested.

A 52-year-old Chatham man now faces charges of Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Assault and Assault with a Weapon.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
