Heat warning issued across Chatham-Kent

A heat warning is back in place across Chatham-Kent, as Environment Canada officials say a heat event is expected Wednesday and Thursday.

“Daytime high temperatures will be near thirty degrees with humidex values in the high thirties,” forecasters say.

“Overnight low temperatures are expected to be near twenty degrees, which will not provide much relief from the heat.”

Hot and humid conditions are expected through the weekend so the heat event may continue for a few days, Environment Canada officials added.

“The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors,” forecasters say.

“Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.”

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion, officials say.
