Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Between June 30, 2019 and July 12, 2019 a man was involved in an attempt robbery and three separate assault incidents against a man that is known to him.

In three of the four incidents, a weapon was used.

Only minimal injuries were reported to the police by the victim.

Yesterday at 1:30 p.m. the 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was located at an address in Wallaceburg.

He was arrested and charged with assault, robbery and two counts of assault with a weapon.

The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

Man arrested on warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In August 2018, a man was released from custody with conditions.

One of his conditions was to abstain from communicating with a woman that is known to him.

In September 2018, the man contacted the woman by telephone.

At that time, the man’s whereabouts were unknown and a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offence of failing to comply.

On Saturday night at 11 p.m. CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency) contacted the Chatham-Kent Police Service to advise they had stopped the man on the Canadian side of the border before he was able to cross into the USA.

Early Sunday morning at 12:30 a.m. the 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on the warrant and transported to CKPS Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

Woman arrested on warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In February 2019, a number of cheques were stolen from a business.

In May 2019, a woman deposited one of the stolen cheques into her own bank account.

Further investigation revealed the cheque had also been altered prior to it being deposited.

All attempts to locate the woman were unsuccessful and therefore, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Saturday at 1 p.m. the 39-year-old Chatham woman was observed by an officer on Thames Street in Chatham.

She was arrested on the warrant for the following criminal offences:

– Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime under $5,000 x 2

– Forgery

– Utter Forged Document

– Fraud under $5,000

The woman was transported to CKPS Headquarters and later released with a future court date.

Woman arrested on warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early Sunday morning around 4:50 a.m. a woman was observed by an officer on Dover Street in Chatham.

Investigation revealed that she had warrants out for her arrest by CKPS.

At 5 a.m. the 25-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on the warrants and transported directly to the South West Regional Detention Centre in Windsor.
