OPP reminds boaters to ‘slow down’

The Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have received concerns from property owners along local waterways regarding the increase in water levels and the speed of numerous boaters close to the shoreline.

“The Lambton County OPP want to remind all vessel operators that no person shall operate a power-driven vessel at a speed in excess of 10km/h within 30m of the shore,” OPP officials said in a media release.

“Failure to do so could result in a $200 fine.”

The Lambton County OPP Marine Unit will be vigilant in patrolling all waterways and enforcing necessary laws, officials say.
