Living life to the full

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Comedian Danny Kaye is credited with saying, “Life is a great canvas – throw all the paint on it you can.”

In other words, live life to the fullest.

Did you know that Jesus wants that very type of life for you?

Here’s what He said in John 10:10, taken from the Amplified version of the Bible (which expands the meaning of the original text): “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

About a month ago I read about a woman in Louisiana who is living life to the full.

Her name is Julia Hawkins, but her nickname is ‘Hurricane Hawkins’ because of her accomplishments in running.

She has set the world record in the 50 and 100 metre dashes for competitors… are you ready for this… over 100 years of age!

Julia, herself a spry 103 years old took up running once she turned 100.

She keeps busy tending her acre of property and 40 bonsai bushes.

She took up competitive cycling in her 80’s but when she became the only competitor in her age division her children suggested that she try running.

The rest, they say, is history – literally.

With nobody else running against her she breaks a new frontier every time she toes the line.

So, what’s your life canvas look like these days? Is it looking a little bland?

Well, don’t just sit there! Start throwing some more paint on it!
