Mrs. Evelyn Rose Marie (Thomas) Van Der Gulik, a resident of Sarnia and formerly of Wallaceburg, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Bluewater Health, in Sarnia, at the age of 82 years.
She was born in Wallaceburg and was a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Foster) Thomas. Beloved wife of Cornelius Van Der Gulik. Dear mother of Elizabeth (Pat) McDougall, Cornelius Jr. (Ester) Van Der Gulik, David Van Der Gulik, Jeff (Terry) Van Der Gulik, Chantel Valentino and Teresa (Roy) Carron. Dear Grandmother of Jamie McDougall, Lisa (Kyle) McDougall-Broad, Ryan (Melanie) Van Der Gulik, Sara (Jeff) Belanger, Katelyn Van Der Gulik, Josh Van Der Gulik, Peter (Tracy) Van Der Gulik, Shane Van Der Gulik, Samantha Van Der Gulik, Cassandra (Don) Van Der Gulik, Natasha Van Der Gulik, Nicholas Van Der Gulik, Sam Jr. (Shelley) Carron, Nicole (Denny) Peltier, Mandy (Rob) Smith and Amy (Jason) Legroulx. Evelyn will also be missed by several great grandchildren. Kind sister of Margie Thomas, Carol (Vince) Bryden, Tom (Rita) Thomas, Jim Thomas and sister-in-law of Jean Thomas. Predeceased by her brothers George Thomas and Donny Thomas, her sister Betty (the late Tom) Orton, and a great granddaughter Madeline. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
The late Evelyn Van Der Gulik rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. Following her wishes, cremation will take place. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Palliative Care at Bluewater Health may be left at the funeral home.
