Man charged with public mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night around 5:30 p.m. the man called 911 to report his vehicle stolen.

The vehicle was located abandoned in the area of McPherson Road and Muirkirk Line.

In the vehicle was a cheque belonging to a homeowner on New Scotland Line.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was observed earlier yesterday morning driving erratically and taking mail while damaging mailboxes in the area of Pike Road and Bates Line.

Police located the man just before 10:00 p.m. last night and he was arrested.

The 21-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with public mischief, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with breaching his curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 3, 2019 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Last night, around 10 p.m. police located the man outside a residence in Chatham and he was arrested.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Earlier this month, a man attended Walmart in Chatham and stole a backpack and fishing rod.

He fled on foot prior to police arrival.

Through investigation, police identified the man and he was arrested yesterday afternoon.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of heroin and methamphetamine.

The 42-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and two counts of drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious woman in the Mitchell’s Bay area.

Police located the woman on Main Street and through investigation learned that she was wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions by communicating with a specific Dresden man.

The 39-year-old Dresden woman was arrested and charged.

She was released pending a future court date of August 30, 2019.

Man charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 9 p.m. last night, police responded to a disturbance on St. George Street in Chatham.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

For his own safety, the man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

He has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

He will be released when sober.

Break and enter in Dover Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday and yesterday, unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Jacob Road and ransacked the home.

Police are still working with the homeowners to determine what was stolen.
