Woman charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation between the woman and her common-law husband.

During the altercation, the woman threw items at the man and damaged his x-box and laptop computer.

Though investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

The 39-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and three counts of mischief under $5,000.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with obstruct police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 6:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Canadian Tire in Chatham.

Upon police arrival, the man provided a false name.

Through investigation, police learned his true identity and he was arrested.

A 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5,000 and obstruct police.

He was released pending a future court date of September 11, 2019.

Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This morning, around 3 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man riding a bicycle on Park Avenue in Chatham with improper lighting.

As the officer attempted to stop the man for this offence, he fled on his bicycle and failed to stop.

The man threw his bicycle over a fence and continued fleeing on foot.

Following a short foot chase, the man was taken into custody on St. Anthony Street.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a back pack containing break in tools, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply with his Probation Order by breaching his curfew, being in possession of break in instruments and two counts of drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early yesterday morning, police located a man wanted for domestic related offences.

The 29-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a man wanted for domestic related offences.

The 39-year-old Tilbury man was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, a man wanted for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of an accident attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

The 27-year-old Chatham man will be released pending a future court date of September 13, 2019.

Stolen ATVs in Raleigh Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, unknown suspects entered a garage on Ninth Line and stole the following items:

– green 2013 Arctic Cat 400 4-wheeler

– red, white and blue 1985 Honda SX 250 3-wheeler

– camo Excalibur crossbow

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $8,600.

Theft of patio furniture in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a theft complaint at the Downtown Chatham Centre as an unknown man stole a Studio 707 patio sofa set from the HART store.

The man was described as white, approximately 5’6”, 25-35 years with short dark hair and unkempt facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a long sleeve dark shirt and dark jeans.

Total value of the L shaped patio sofa and ottoman has been estimated at $800.
