Investigation launched after the death of a baby

Lambton OPP officials allege: On August 20, 2019, at approximately 12:45 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lambton County Paramedic Services, and St. Clair Township Fire Department responded to a call of a two-month-old child in medical distress at an address on Cameron Street in Corunna.

The child was transported to hospital by paramedics.

On August 26, 2019, the child died in hospital.

Members of the Lambton County OPP Major Crime Unit, OPP West Region Criminal Operations, and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are investigating the circumstances of the death, under the direction of Detective Inspector Pete Liptrott of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for August 28, 2019.

The investigation remains ongoing and the identity of the deceased will not be released at this time.
