Man arrested for multiple offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In June, 2019, a man was released on a recognizance of bail after being charged with numerous offences.

As part of his recognizance he was put on conditions to remain in his residence unless in the presence of his surety.

Early this morning, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers were present at an apartment building in Ridgetown when they observed the man enter the building without his surety being present.

The man was advised he was under arrest for breaching his recognizance and while being escorted out of the building, he began to fight with the officers in an attempt to flee.

As a result of the struggle, a taser was deployed in order to subdue the man.

Upon searching the man incident to arrest, he was also found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

As a result of this incident, a 32-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged with Breach of Recognizance, Resist Peace Officer, and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

Man arrested for impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday at approximately 7:00 p.m., an officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Baldoon Road in Chatham after observing it being driven in an erratic manner.

Through investigation, the officer believed that the driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was placed under arrest.

The man was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests which indicated that he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his body.

In addition, he was also found to be disqualified from driving for a previous impaired related conviction

A 35-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with Operation While Impaired, 80 and Above, Drive While Disqualified, Drive While Suspended, Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle, Alter Validation, and Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance.

He was later released from custody with a future court date.

Warrants executed

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday at approximately 5:15 p.m., an officer on general patrol located a man in the area of Park Ave and Queen Street in Chatham who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested for assault.

He was later released from custody with a future court date.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night officers were conducting a RIDE program on Dufferin Ave in Wallaceburg.

At that time, a man rode his bicycle through the RIDE program who was known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 53 year old Wallaceburg man was arrested for Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

He was later released from custody with a future court date.

RIDE programs

Last night officers in Wallaceburg and Tilbury conducted RIDE spot checks at several locations.

As a result, 95 drivers were stopped and checked.

No charges were laid.
