Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a man wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

A 50-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged and released pending a future court date of September 18, 2019.

Man damages police cruiser

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Upon police arrival, the man was outside the residence in possession of a 4×4 piece of wood that was approximately 6-7’ in length.

The officer ordered the man to drop the piece of wood, but he refused and instead ran towards the officer and smashed the piece of wood into the front windshield of the cruiser.

The man fled back into the house and used a family member as a human shield against police.

Officers were able to safely separate the pair and the man was arrested.

The 23-year-old Chatham man has been charged with weapons dangerous, assault police and mischief over $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Harwich Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 6:30 p.m. last night, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on River Line between Communication Road and Harwich Road.

The driver, a 24-year-old Chatham man, lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Total damage has been estimated at $4,000.

The collision remains under investigation.

Man charged with uttering threats

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, the man attended a residence in Tilbury and threatened two people known to him.

Police were called and the man was arrested a short time later.

The 30-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with two counts of uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of October 9, 2019.

Pair charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a disturbance at an apartment in Wallaceburg.

The man threatened his ex-girlfriend and threw items over the balcony damaging cars in the parking lot below.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman was also bound by conditions not to communicate with the man and to notify police of any change in address.

The 34-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with uttering threats, break and enter and mischief over $5,000.

The 34-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions.

Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
