Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 3 a.m. this morning, police responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a man assaulted his pregnant girlfriend during a verbal altercation.

He also damaged the woman’s cell phone earlier in the week while arguing.

The 22-year-old Windsor man was arrested and charged with mischief under $5000, assault and overcome resistance by attempting to choke.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 6 p.m. last night, police responded to a disturbance on Minnie Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers located an intoxicated woman who was unable to care for herself.

For her own safety, she was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

The 49-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

She was released this morning when sober.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early yesterday morning, police responded to a break and enter at First Choice Haircutters on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Unknown suspects smashed the glass front door, causing about $500 damage.

Loose change was stolen from the cash register.

Theft in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the last week, unknown suspects entered a garage on Turnbull Avenue and stole a set of ‘Studio’ Bluetooth speakers and a grey 20v Maximum drill.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $300.
