Severe thunderstorm watch issued

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued in Chatham-Kent. Here are the details released at 10:43 a.m. by Environment Canada:

Thunderstorms will develop over Lower Michigan and move into Ontario this afternoon. The main threats with these thunderstorms are damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
