Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 5, 2019 a man was released from court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to leave his residence without his surety and not to communicate with a specific woman.

Early Sunday morning, police responded to a medical emergency on Michener Road in Chatham.

At this time, officers observed the man in the company of the woman and not with his surety.

The man fled the scene as officers assisted paramedics.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 31-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday night, police responded to a theft complaint in the downtown Chatham area.

Through investigation, police learned that the debit card from a stolen wallet had been used at a local convenience store to make multiple purchases.

Police identified the man responsible and he was arrested last night.

The 23-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, fraud under $5,000 and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man entered the woman’s residence without permission, broke a door and assaulted her.

Officers located the man a short distance away from the residence and he was arrested.

The 34-year-old Chatham man has been charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house, mischief under $5,000 and assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, members of ‘A’ platoon conducted traffic enforcement in Charing Cross.

Eight motorists were stopped and charged with speeding through the 50km/h zone.
